Dublin, Ireland
In a country renowned for their drinking establishments, The Bleeding Horse stands out. Some fond memories really stick in my mind, including the time my buddy made out with a Brazilian chick he met 10 minutes earlier for (literally) 15 minutes after the clock struck midnight, ringing in 2017.
It was uncomfortable. People had to side-step and slide around them while they tried to reinvent the French Kiss. I will say that kiss led him to probably one of the wildest (in a good way) nights of his life and we are all better for it.
Anyway, the pub was filled with some of the best type of people – the Irish. The building itself is huge, with multiple floors and rooms that are walled off throughout. They pour a proper Guinness, obviously, and have a nice selection of whisky (and tequila shots). On more quiet nights the live music is great, with Oasis playing from the mics of the cover band. It’s only a stone’s throw from Temple Bar and the drunken walk isn’t bad at all.
Every time I’m in Dublin, I skip everything else and tell the driver to drop me off at The Bleeding Horse.
Oh, and do not get the pizza across the street.
